I recall a bug where the gradient positions in a C4 file might have  
fractional values, and those would throw off the math when spooling  
the gradient from C7. This was fixed by rounding them to integer  
values. I think someone shared their script that fixed this on the  
list. I also fixed this in code for C8.

This might not be the same thing as what you're experiencing.
