Font issues - C8 & dfont's

Forgive me for posting a potentially already posted issue (I can't bring up
the search archives page) but I migrated our art dept. to C8 this week. We
are experiencing some font issues.

The symptoms: 

-- "bullets" coming out as different 'substituted' characters =
(Optima.dfont / HelveticaNeue.dfont)
-- Some characters not appearing on screen. (commas, periods = Times.dfont)

These are all OSX system fonts that have been in use for quite some time. Is
there a solution to this yet?
