Crazy Colors & EPS Files

An EPS is an unseparated postscript file, a DCS 1.0 is pre-separated and 
contains 5 files for a CMYK file, a DCS 2.0 is also pre-separated but 
the 5 files are all in one file.

DCS 2 files are typically 4 times larger than an EPS for no added 
benefit when dealing with CMYK, in my experience.  If you are dealing 
with spot color, duotones, or multi-channel color out of PhotoShop then 
you would need to use DC2 - there may be other uses as well.

I would think your IT department would be happy to have you switch to 
EPS if your workflow has no problems with it, it'll greatly save on 
server space and network traffic.
