PDFs in Creator

We are placing PDFs directly in, but do have some problems with them 
some times.  The biggest problem I've had is that soft shadows on PDFs 
turn into black boxes for some reason.  If I save the PDF as an EPS out 
of Acrobat Pro, that will usually fix it.  The only other problem is 
sometimes I'll have one that just won't place at all, this doesn't 
happen a whole lot though and is usually fixed by simply opening the PDF 
in Acrobat and resaving it.

Has anyone else seen the problems with soft shadows on PDFs?
