First up, I'd recommend upgrading to a more modern version of OS X,
like 10.4, or 10.3.9 at the very least. Other than that, you might
have corrupt fonts or a corrupt font cache. Try trashing /Library/
Caches/com.apple.ATS (I think this cache was in this location in
10.2, but I don't know for sure) then rebooting. Or completely
reinstall Creator. Also check the disk with Disk Utility's Verify or
Repair buttons (you'll need to boot from another volume to repair the
drive).
