I don't recall moving from 10.2 to 10.3 to 10.4 causing my old G4 to  
run any slower. The one thing you might notice that is Spotlight will  
index all your files when you first boot into 10.4. It does this in  
the background. Once it's done, things will return to normal. This  
doesn't use much cpu, but there will be a lot of disk activity while  
it inspects the files.
