That's very odd. It really does sound like something local to your  
machine. Anyone else seen this?

Just run the 8.0 installer to install a new 8.0 folder. Choose only  
the app, then move it into the 8.0.1 folder to replace 8.0.1 (or  
rename it to 8.0.1 so you can try it later).
