'FFIL' is a font suitcase that might contains bitmap and/or TrueType
versions of the font. 'LWFN' is a "LaserWriter" font, otherwise know
as a PostScript Type 1 outline font. Years ago, the Mac OS could only
display bitmap fonts onscreen. Then along came Adobe Type Manager
which could rasterize Type 1 fonts for onscreen use. Then (my timeline
might be a bit wrong) along came TrueType fonts and the ability for
the OS to rasterize those to the screen. Then ATM got "built into" the
OS. These days, I'm not sure if the bitmaps fonts are even used. They
might be, since common small size fonts like Monaco 9 that I see and
use daily still look like their perfect bitmap form and are not
antialiased.
