Problems printing to PDF

I have a fairly simple tabloid size poster (11 high x 17 wide) in landscape
orientation, that I cannot seem to print to PDF. The file contains a single
large graphic (which has been enlarged and rotated), and three text boxes.

I am using Creator 7.0.6 on a 1.67 GHz PowerBook, running OS 10.4.10, 1.5 GB
SDRAM.

If I attempt to export to PDF, I get an error message that "The Apple Event
was not handled."
If I attempt to print to Adobe PDF 6 or Adobe PDF Pro 8.0 (both versions of
Acrobat are available: 6 Standard and 8 Pro), I get "An Unexpected Error
Occurred (32767)." The number sometimes varies.
If I attempt to use Apple's "save to pdf" function, I get a pdf file, but
the single large jpg graphic has become solid black.

I have tried discarding all of the Acrobat preferences for both versions.
I have repaired Permissions.
I have run Disk Warrior.
I have tried the graphic as a tif, jpg and pdf, in that order.
I have tried printing to pdf without enlarging/rotating the graphic.
None of these has had any effect.

I CAN successfully export the file as a jpg.

Any advice?
