The NCK Outdoors crew took on a major upgrade to the Shady Bend Trails and Park on the west end of Osborne, Kansas. The project added 4 miles of sustainable hiking and biking trails, a new trailhead parking and staging area, signage, a river view picnic area and a nature interpretive trail with more life sized animal cut outs to complete the park experience. There are beginner, intermediate and advanced trails to choose from and provide some great riding. The Osborne County Community Foundation awarded NCK Outdoors a grant to enhance the community space and a grand opening is planned for Sunday, June 2, 2:00-4:00 p.m. To get to Shady Bend park from W. Main St. in downtown Osborne, then turn onto W. 90th St and follow the signs to the park and the trailhead. The new kiosk was recently installed which displays a map of the Shady Bend trail system for all visitors.
