Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems (MCHHS) provides comprehensive care through its specialized vestibular physical therapy (VPT) services. VPT is a form of Physical Therapy aimed at addressing disorders which affect the inner ear and coordination between the inner ear, the brain, and our body and eye movements.

Common vestibular disorders include Positional Vertigo (displaced calcium crystals in the inner ear), Vestibular Hypofunction (one or both ears not performing properly), and migraines. Patients may have dizzy sensation with certain head and body movements, as well as feeling that their balance is unstable during regular movement.

Recognizing the impact of vestibular disorders on patients’ lives, MCHHS offers VPT programs designed to address dizziness, vertigo, and general balance problems. MCHHS has three certified Physical Therapists who specialize in vestibular and concussion rehabilitation to help patients regain stability, move more safely, and improve their quality of life. This is done through personalized treatments including specialized positional techniques, tailored exercise plans, and guided balance therapies. With these methods available, MCHHS ensures that individuals affected by vestibular disorders receive the highest standard of care to achieve optimal recovery and maintain long-term well-being.

For those affected by balance disorders, dizziness, and vertigo, seeking the expertise of a vestibular specialist can be the first step toward recovery and regaining control of their quality of life and safety.
